It's nearing the end of the year and almost time to take stock metaphorically speaking... What a year 2014 has been for me professionally! This year my work has been included in four group shows. I'm very pleased to have had the opportunity to exhibit with so many exciting artists and to show my paintings in some amazing spaces.

My final group show of the year begins on 8 December 2014 and runs until 1 January 2015. The exhibition is entitled  Contemporary British Painting and is hung in the crypt of St Marylebone Parish Church, London. It is an exhibition of small works by 40 contemporary painters. I'll be showing 'Red Strata' (above) which is just back from the framers and looks particularly festive at this time of year.

Artists for this show are:

Edwin Aitken | Amanda Ansell | Claudia Boase | Jon Braley | Julian Brown | Simon Burton | Andrew Crane | Pen Dalton | Lisa Denyer | Annabel Dover | Nathan Eastwood | Wendy Elia | Christopher Gee | Chris Gilvan-Cartright | Terry Greene | Susan Gunn | Alex Hanna | Marguerite Horner | Barbara Howey | Silvie Jacobi | Kelly Jayne | Sue Kennington | Matthew Krishanu | Bryan Lavelle | Nick Middleton | Andrew Munoz | Stephen Newton | Gideon Pain | Barbara Peirson | Alison Pilkington | Robert Priseman | Freya Purdue | James Quin | Greg Rook | Katherine Russell | David Sullivan | Judy Tucker | Julie Umerle | Jacquie Utley | Sean Williams.

2015 promises to be an equally exciting year with several group shows throughout the year, so please watch this space for announcements of dates and locations.

I look forward to meeting some of you at future events. In the meantime, thank you as always for reading my blog and for following me through 2014.

Three group shows

I'm pleased to announce that I have three group shows opening before the end of the year. These shows are all in connection with the collective 'Contemporary British Painting' and a wonderful opportunity to get my work out into the world.

For those who follow my blog, you may remember that I wrote earlier this year in August about the 'Priseman-Seabrook collection of 21st Century British Painting'. The first showing of this collection of over sixty works, which includes one of my paintings, is at Huddersfield Art Gallery from 1st November 2014 - 14th March 2015. This exhibition is called 'Contemporary British Painting'. A catalogue will be published to accompany the exhibition, available through Amazon.

The second show is at Ipswich Art School Gallery from 15th November 2014 - 8th March 2015. This exhibition is called 'Paint Britain', with thirty-six participating artists.

The third show is at St Marylebone Crypt in London from 8th December 2014 to 4th January 2015, and is called 'Contemporary British Painting'. This is the group's annual christmas exhibition.

I hope you will be able to visit one or more of these exhibitions. At least now I'll be able to give a good response when people ask me where they can see my paintings!

Contemporary British Painting

I have recently been invited to join Contemporary British Painting, a new platform for contemporary painting in the UK, and I'm delighted to be part of this. They aim to highlight work produced by a group of selected painters practicing in Britain today.

I'll be adding a page to their website next spring, and later this year (30 Nov-31 Dec 2014) I will be part of one of their group shows at The Crypt, St Marylebone Church, Marylebone Road, London NW1 where they are curating a series of exhibitions.

In November 2015, I will have a solo show of my paintings at St Marylebone Crypt and will also be part of several group exhibitions they are curating in the UK and USA in galleries and museums.

This is a great opportunity to expand my network and get more people to know about my work, and I am sure the group will go from strength to strength as it grows.

It's extremely important as an artist to interact with other artists at the risk of becoming too reclusive within one's own practice and studio group, so I'm interested to see how things will develop from here.
